Health and Safety Measures – COVID-19
The changes we have made are set out below. If you have any questions please
email us at boulderworld@gmail.com and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
Social distancing: Everyone using the gym should ensure they keep at least two metre away from other people where possible. We have placed markers around the entry and exit to help with this when queuing.
A maximum of capacity of people: We are required to limit the amount of people in the gym at anyone time based on Meter Sq available. As a result, you may need to wait for someone to finish before you are able to use the gym. We don’t foresee this being a problem.
Check in and Out Service: To keep an up to date check on the active numbers in the centre we are implementing a check in and check out service. On entry to the gym please ensure you swipe you card or allow reception to sign you in regardless of membership type.
We also ask that you take the time to swipe / sign out of the centre when leaving.
If you do not already have a membership swipe card we would encourage you to purchase one as it will ease in the entry and exit process.
Arrive Ready 🙂 : Please come ready to climb and leave as much as possible in the car. We would prefer if people did not change at the gym.
We have not put in place a booking system because we feel based on the current levels of climbers entering gyms already open we will not exceed or likely come close to our capacity.
Live Occupancy Counter: We have installed a ‘live’ centre occupancy counter on our website homepage. This will give you a relatively up to date idea of how busy the centre is at any given time. (Please allow 10 minutes either way for it to update)
Hand Sanitiser: We have installed a 2 hand sanitiser stations at the entry and exit door.and reception area. And all 3 toilets / wash hand basins will be fully stocked with hand soap and hot water. It is recommended that everyone should wash their hands or use hand sanitiser before they enter the centre and before they leave.
Coronavirus is spread through sneeze or cough droplets. To infect you, it has to get from an infected person’s nose or mouth into your eyes, nose or mouth. This can be direct or indirect (on hands, objects, surfaces). Keep this in mind when you are climbing and don’t touch your nose, mouth or eyes when you are in the bouldering area, or between climbs. If you have to touch your nose, mouth or eyes then make sure you wash your hands first.
Water bottle refills: We will not be refilling water bottles or providing water refills. We have additional stock of water if you forget to bring water with you.
Liquid chalk: We sell liquid chalk which has an alcohol level present. Whilst the may not kill the virus it will lower the amount of chalk in the air. You don’t have to use it, but it will certainly help if you do and we encourage people to try it.
Additional cleaning: We will ensure that all frequently touched objects and surfaces outside of the bouldering area are frequently cleaned. For example, door handles, tables etc are regularly cleaned and disinfected throughout the day.
Contactless payment and check-in: Please pay via contactless payment where possible and avoid cash or typing in your number.
Air circulation: We will be opening all windows and doors and running our air extraction system at various points throughout the day.
Supervised Kids climbing : We will not be running kid’s clubs or birthday parties as it isn’t possible to keep the required social distancing for these activities.
We will be reviewing this and will hopefully be able to accommodate group climbing sessions the future.
We are allowing U18’s to be supervised by 1 adult member throughout the day.
If you are U18 but have been signed off to climb unsupervised. You can still do so.
Face masks: We ask that you wear a face mask / covering while in the centre. It is not yet mandatory to wear one whilst actually climbing but you are of course more than welcome to do so.
Updates: We will continue to update this page and our Instagram and Facebook accounts to reflect any new advice from government and the HSE, or if we need to make changes to ensure we continue to protect the health and safety of customers and staff.
